§ 40-49. Regulations concerning transportation of hazardous, flammable or corrosive substances on parish roadways.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any vehicle transmitting hazardous materials in quantities of five gallons or more to enter upon any street or roadway maintained by the parish without obtaining a special permit from the department of public safety and emergency services. The exception to this subsection is extended to vehicles carrying flammable fuel such as gasoline to service stations located within subdivisions and on roadways maintained by the parish where state or private mode of ingress is not provided.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful to abandon, or leave unattended, any trailer or vehicle used for carrying hazardous materials on the shoulder of any highway within the parish, except in designated areas such as industrial areas, approved truck stops, and weighing scales.

    (c)

    It shall be unlawful to park or stop vehicles containing hazardous materials on any street, highway, or highway right-of-way within the parish, except in cases of emergencies.
