§ 6-141. Redemption; fees.

  • Any person claiming an animal which was seized and impounded under the provisions of this division and proving ownership thereof shall be entitled to possession of such animal only upon proof that such animal has had current inoculation with an approved anti-rabies vaccine according to the guidelines provided in section 6-119, provided, however, that such claim is made within five days from the date of the seizure and impounding of such animal and provided further that all impoundment fees and penalties including rabies inoculation if such animal has not been inoculated as provided for in section 6-119, that apply to the animal as provided for in this section, have been paid. In addition the fees provided for in section 14-6(2) shall be paid to the parish.

    All fees shall be payable in cashier's check or money order.

    (2)

    An ID tag shall be defined as any tag and/or micro chip with the owner's name or specific contact number where the parish may locate the owner.
